Welcome to the Hundred Acre Wood, where Winnie the Pooh is once again in search of honey. Along the way, he meets his pals, Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit and Owl, but soon discovers that Christopher Robin has been captured by the mysterious Backson! As they prepare for a rescue operation, the animals learn about teamwork, friendship and, of course... sharing snacks.

Here is some important information and friendly reminders to ensure a fun and successful camp.

Checking-In/Out

Each day a parent/guardian must walk your child to the check-in table located in front of the building to properly check-in with our T.A.s.

This same protocol will need to be followed when retrieving your child at the end of the day.

What to Wear

Please come to camp each day clean and in loose fitting clothing that promotes movement.  Dresses and skirts are discouraged.  As a safety precaution, please wear CLOSED TOED shoes. No clogs, sandals, flip flops, or Crocs.   Each camper will receive a camp shirt, these shirts may be worn as part of your costume for the performance.  Please also provide solid, black pants or leggings, and black or dark shoes (no light ups) to be worn on the day of performance as well as our dress rehearsal day.  If costume pieces need to be provided from home, we will make sure these needs are communicated in a timely manner.

Lunch

You are responsible for providing a lunch for your child every day that camp is in session.  Each day students will have 15 minutes allocated for lunch and 10 minutes for a snack.  Please plan accordingly.  Lunches must be nut free. Gum is not allowed while inside the facility under any circumstances.  Please bring a refillable water bottle clearly marked with your camper’s name.

Following lunch each day we will give the campers 15 minutes of “quiet time” where they may continue eating, study their scripts, read a book, or close their eyes.  Please plan accordingly. If your student would like to bring a blanket, sleeping bag, or pillow they may do so, but it is not required.

Ticket Policy

Information regarding ticketing will be sent out closer to the start of camp.

Illness

If illness occurs during our camp dates, please inform our Education Director, Stephen Hohendorf by calling or texting 616-295-5183 prior to the start of the day.  Please note that due to the timeline of this program missing a day or two of camp may result in less opportunity within the performance.  We will try to catch-up your camper on what they have missed, but it may not always be possible and will be assessed on a case by case basis.

Conduct

Bullying Policy

ABT strives to create a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for all its students.  With this in mind, we have a 0-tolerance bullying policy.  Should an incident occur we have in place a three-step action plan.  Step 1: Instructors talk to the student(s) privately and give verbal warning. Step 2: Student’s parent/guardian is contacted and brought in to create a solution.  Step 3: Dismissal from the program. If a student inflicts physical assault on a fellow student, they will be dismissed from the program immediately.

Please note that siblings attending this program may have different familiarity while at home, however, siblings  will be held to the same standard as non-siblings when it comes to physical and verbal boundaries.

Please also note that the following behavior is not allowed at any time and could end up in dismissal from the program:

Inappropriate or aggressive physical contact.

Expressions or jokes that are of a bigoted, racist, or sexual nature.

Expressions or jokes that may be harmful to another student or instructor.

Possession or distribution of inappropriate content (including photos and videos).

Possession or distribution of any illegal substances including alcohol, drugs or vaporizers.

Cellphones are not permitted during the hours of your camp.  Campers may bring cellphones in case of emergency, but they must remain out of sight at all times.

If you have any questions or concerns between now and the beginning of camp, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Education Director, Stephen Hohendorf at StephenH@azbroadway.org.

On behalf of everyone here at the Arizona Broadway Theatre, we are so excited to be spending the summer with you and your family!
